The use of lest ---- Should with examples and exercise

In this article, I have explained the use of Lest --- Should with examples and exercise. Lest always followed by should and the first form of the verb is used after should. I have given the sentence with Urdu so that students can understand easily.

The Use of Lest ---- Should

(kahanhi asa na ho k)

Lest always followed by should in a sentence.The sentence in which Lest --- Should is used, the first part of the sentence is imperative. The second part starts with 'Lest'. After 'lest' the subject is used and then should is used after the subject. The first form of the verb is used after should and at the end of the sentence, the object is used.

Structure

Imperative + Lest + Subject + Should + Main Verb + Object
Imperative + Lest + Subject + Should + VI + Object

Examples

1. Go there lest they should become angry with you.

(Whan jao asa na ho k wo tum se naraz na ho jae)
2. Shut the door lest the cat should come in.
(Darwaza band kar doo mobada billi andar aa jay)
3. Don't tell a lie lest your mother should beat you.
(Ghot mat bolo asa na ho k tumhari man tume mare)
4. Keep your promise lest the people should consider you a lier.
(Apna wada pora karo asa na ho k log tume ghota smajan)
5. Don't abuse him lest his brothers beat you.

(ose gali mat do asa na ho k os ka bhai tuman maran)
6. Go away lest they should shoot you.
(Chale jao asa na ho k wo tumhe shoot kar dan.)
7. Hurry up lest we should miss our paper.
(jaldi karo asa na ho ham apna paper miss kar dan)
8. Go to the office in time lest you should be fired.
(Job par time pe jao asa na wo tumhe nokare se nikaal dan)
9. Don't tease that girl lest she should complain against you to the principal.
(Os larki ko tang mat karo asa na ho wo tumhari principal se complain kar de)
10. Hurry up lest we should miss our train.
(Jaldi karo asa na ham apni train miss kar dan.)
11. Focus on your study lest you should fail.
(Apni study par toje do kahi asa na tum fail ho jao.)
12. Don't call him a lier lest he should angry with you.
(Ose jhota mat kaho kanhi asa na ho wo tum se naraz ho jae)
